About Sony EI Cine

Main Post:

Hi!

As I understand, Exposure Index in new FX Cinema Line Sony cameras works like this:

It doesnt really affect the image, but the way you expose it. This means if you're shooting in a 800 native iso but using a 400 Exposure Index and you expose for proper skins tones, you are actually over exposing 1 stop, which can be benefitial for different scenarios, for example a low light scenarios where you need the cleanest shadows.

Am I right or does the EI value actually affect the way the file is being recorded?

I hope this thread is useful for many other users.

Top Comment: this is basically it, yes. the fact that it's called "exposure index", as opposed to ISO, is a hint here: it's more about what you expose for, rather than what the camera does.

Difference Floodlight Cam E 2K and Floodlight Cam 2K?

Main Post:

I'm the happy owner of a 2k doorbell + 2 x 2k camera set-up but would like to replace my dumb floodlight with a Eufy camera.

I'm in the UK and the floodlight Cam 2k (T8424) seems to be always out of stock through Eufy or Amazon. Today I see the Floodlight Cam E 2K (T8422) on offer through Amazon but I can't figure out what's different about this model.

Eufy has a comparison page which describes this model as "offline model" and it has 2000 lumens rather than 2500 of the T8424.

Can someone explain what the difference is and is the T8422 a replacement of the T8424?

Edit: I bought the T8422 model in the end and for the £99 I paid it's been fantastic. I already had a strong 2.4 WiFi signal so haven't had the issues with connection that others complained about in the Amazon reviews.

Top Comment: Hey, Just wondering if both models allow for the same setting as to the LED lights, namely a separate setting for manual light and motion triggered light (as to brightness and colour temperature). This would make it rather useful for my back garden since I could also use it for ambient lighting during the long Summer evenings... on the rare occasion in Northern England ;-) Am currently running the Floodlight Cam 2 Pro for my back alley and am rather impressed... except for a few flaws it performs very well.

Eufy Cam E Without Ethernet

Main Post:

Hi,

I just bought a Eufy Cam E because on Amazon it said there was a new firmware that enables it to be used without plugging into the router. The way my apartment is set up, I don’t have a router but do have my own network. Does anyone know how to setup the system without plugging into the router? I can’t find anything online

Top Comment:

I think first time you need to setup via ethernet cable. Once that is done you can change it to wifi.

So you need to have a cable that is connected to the router temporarily. So you can setup the system and then switch it to wifi connection.

Top left hamburger menu. Then my devices. Then the camera base. Then connection. There you can switch to wifi connection.

Where to buy a camera | Ebay vs E-Infin

Main Post:

Basically just the title. I have to choose where to buy my camera between these two sites. The cameras I came along it's either Sony FX30 from E-Infin or Lumix S5 II from Ebay ( the camera is listed as NEW ). I wanted to know your opinion about this and if I should buy from Ebay considering the fact that I'm from Europe ( Romania ) and here are mixed opinions about Shipping qualiti and their Policy.

** I like more what Panasonic S5 II gives tbh but really dont know what to say about buying from Ebay since I never used it.
